With its professional vision, the WAREHOUSE optic has been collecting an array of spectacular glasses from around the world since 2014. Combining optic retail and contemporary arts, the WAREHOUSE gallery will be hosting art exhibitions regularly. Joey Chan of the WAREHOUSE optic and veteran art curator Matt Chung joined forces to work with Madrid-based artist Edgar Plans for the debut pop- up exhibition “Optical Heroes”, showcasing the playfulness nature of the artist through his works.
More than 60 pieces of arts by Edgar Plans are now on exhibition, among the collection, three of them are the artist’s biggest canvas to-date with “Animal Heroes” characters in glasses, as well as eyewear history and vision screening scattered in this masterpiece, powerfully capturing the attention of visitors entering the space. Apart from the special commissioned pieces for the opening, the exhibition also features more than 50 pieces of sketches done by the artist. A certain childish character of the artist is brought to the WAREHOUSE gallery through the artworks, allowing the customers to be connected with the artist’s playful and childlike mind while shopping.
the WAREHOUSE gallery was born when Matt Chung and Joey Chan decided to combine retail and art. Besides partnering up with global artists, they also gave a new look to the store. Located at the heart of Causeway Bay on Pak Sha Road, the WAREHOUSE gallery mixes concrete wall features, metal-framed showcases and different kinds of wood in its spacious 700 square foot store space. This space not only will regularly showcase the work by international artists alike, it will also keep bringing in spectacular glasses from all over the world, the WAREHOUSE gallery strives to offer original art and retail experience to its customers.
