Our highly-anticipated Winter issue is now on stands, featuring a slew of music and culture-related content, like our local DJ feature and Houston artist profiles. In addition to that much-needed holiday reading, here are some events to consider taking part in, including the Asia Society Texas Center’s free children’s film festival happening through Wednesday.

No matter what you decide to get into, be sure to do it safely and follow posted precautions at venues listed here, as COVID-19 cases are starting to rise in the city. This week’s artsy dispatch is filled with updates on a few events to look for in the new year from some of Houston’s premier performing arts houses.

Here’s more art news for your week:

“America’s Favorite Husband” Takes the Stage at The Houston Improv

Comedian and Texas native Steve Treviño is scheduled to perform six shows this month at the Houston Improv from Thursday, December 30 through Sunday, January 2. From a podcast to opening for musical acts, the Mexican-American comic has found innovative ways to engage his audiences.  He’ll be in the Bayou City for a couple of days, and we’re sure Houston will be ready to welcome him back with laughter.
