A temporary public art installation, entitled “Shrumen Lumen,” is lighting up downtown Danville in the evenings.
Created by FoldHaus, an art collective based in the San Francisco Bay Area led by Joerg Student and Jesse Silver, the large mushroom-shaped artwork features an umbrella-like mechanism that changes the shape of the mushrooms’ cap. Originally created for Burning Man, at night, the artwork is a rainbow of LED colors.
The two 14-foot installations, both with the same name, are located at the Town Green, 400 Front St., and the Art Gallery at the Village Theatre, 233 Front St. The public art is an extension of Art Gallery at the Village Theatre’s exhibition “Altered & Reimagined,” featuring artwork created using recycled and found objects.
They will be on display through Labor Day.
