Chicago — School of Lock kids jammed at the Edgewater Arts Festival on Sunday. The stage is a wonderful teacher.
Children attending the party at the fest could check out a variety of musical instruments to see if they liked it, providing a one-stop shop for future musicians in the area.
The festival was attended by 75 artists over the weekend, including retired Chicago firefighter Eddie Cortez. His work is a little more relaxed, making art using recycled architecture.
Cortez said he often goes to bicycle stores and often uses the trees he finds to make art.
For her late-blooming companion, Catherine Gemperul, decades of being an art teacher turned into building her own clay house.
She founded the Edgewater Historical Society and was responsible for house tours.
