Manx artist, Nicola Dixon, says of herself that she paints the sea, the coast, boats and creatures that live above and below it in a bright distinctive style - Celtic interlace and symbols feature occasionally, too.
Nicola is a talented artist whose work is in demand around the world, producing graphic design for festivals and album covers alongside her fine art.
In 2014, Nicola was selected to represent the Isle of Man at Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Brittany - Europe’s largest Celtic Festival. Inspired by the 150th anniversary of Liberty designer and Manxman Archibald Knox’s birth, she developed work that echoed his own The Deer’s Cry.
Here, Nicola talks to Breesha Maddrell from Culture Vannin about that work and its inherent spirituality.
